So true. The less botters, the better.
I don't care about PVE bots, but the PVP bots just ruin the gameplay.

I know fighting against this monk or mesmer bot might me extremely frustrating, but I like the idea of all the gold farm bots who are destroying the economy, walking away with all titles and our hard earned HoM bonusses even less..

I don't like both but sometimes when playing against pvp bots there above human reflexes makes winning impossible and pvp has titles with HoM bonuses too.

These additions have molded the community from a dying game, to a dying game that the players realize won't get better. I understand GW2 is on the rise, but that's been the case for 2 years without any love for the original, and will continue to be the case for months to come. With this being said, what do the players with 3-5 years under their belt have to do? Repeat missions, vanqs, dungeons? Needlessly grind out speed clears (which Anet failed at attempting to shut down)? Or maybe participating in nerdy e-peen battles on a nightly basis with the same morons every night in HA? THIS my friends, is precisely why people bot. It makes the game fun again. Personally, I've achieved GWAMM, r8, g3 on my own, no bot help. I moved to PvP because there was nothing else left to do in PvE. When PvP becomes redundant, you simply move on (botting). An evolutionary process mediated by A-net themselves.

Without enough content updates, or micro-transactions, or anything that normal, successful MMOs employ to keep their game active, this game died out. 15 minute zaishen wait times in HA, empty districts in PvE zones, etc... BEFORE the ban-o-mania. Just imagine what the future months will behold.

Fair enough, but breaking the EULA is no excuse for a lack of content by the developer.

If a game wants to combat botting, don't let the players get bored of said game. Honestly, running rupty and watching people rage was more fun than playing the game for what it is. If Anet sticks to this concept of an MMO.... even if it is more like WoW (.... zzzzz), who is going to play it? You think I'm gonna buy GW2 after filling my HoM legitimately, getting gwamm, r8, g3 legit? After 5000+ hours of gameplay? I can't imagine so. Because truthfully, with the effort put into GW1 in the last few years, why would I expect anything more from GW2 once they design it? A re-skinned, re-written WoW isn't going to do anyone any good, especially when the Arena Net team won't be adding new content updates every couple of months like WoW does... As BAD as WoW is... it's better than GW... because the designers actually give a damn. =/ sad news for Guild Wars today.
|
I agree, at least subscription games update regularly. We can only hope GW2 capitalizes on this realization and attempts to counter subscription games accordingly.

i dont actually see a noticeable drop in the population...
lions arch is busy as always, alliance battles are still packed full of baddies and fun and gtob and stuff is still full
that and 3 of my friends came back to gw, so theres at least 3 more people that came back to gw because of the ban
i dont see no ghost town
ps: im no competitive pvper or hardcore farmer, so i may not see this big drop in player population if im not in the right places....wherever this place is

You are right. The point that GW is becomming a ghost town is ridiculous. It's doing as well as always, and that's a measurable fact.

It's not doing any worse than before the ban but "as well as always" isn't true. There's been a pretty steep drop in the number of people playing since 2007-2008.

So when you were no longer entertained with GW, instead of quitting you became a cheater?
And wow, you accuse the devs of banning botters because they don't care? In reality, ALLOWING botters would show they didn't care.

Imo the ban scythe, the latest skill updates, the wik slowly kicking off (bounties) and the latest dev announcement gave gw a significant boost in activity. I don't think that there are many more players, but many are returning and kryta is a new major spot for pugging again. i can only applaud anet for such a good move.
note: i am no advocate of dartboard buffs, but many buffed skills are not that overpowered and the meta is rejuvenating.

Well, as always may be incorrect I admit What I meant is that even though a lotta people leave, more new people come, not to mention the fact that GW has been around for 5 years. Seriously any game would start declining after 5 years and compared to that fact, GW is actually doing better than I've ever woulda guessed when I first bought it 5 years ago.

QFT.
If you're bored, do play another MMO or another of the countless games being released every month.

I agree with you there. Specially since the average MMORPG's lifespan these day is is what 6 months?
However I think the ban did piss away a lot of Guild Wars big wealth (rare mini's really really rare weapons). That's not really THAT huge of a deal though.

The game's pretty much dead. So much that players converted over to NPCs long ago. Hence, all the bannings!
